Green

“On the morning after your first night there, wake up and look out the window. Just enjoy the peace, the quiet and the fresh air. Then go make yourself a nice breakfast.”

And indeed I did. It’s kinda warm and not quite as breezy as I expected it to. But then again, I’m only on the 7th floor.

Cornflakes, eggs, bacon, yogurt and coffee. That’s what I just had and it was strange to cook without having to fight the food from sliding off the pan.

I’m still getting used to the idea of living on this side of the Valley. Most of you might be wondering – what’s the fuss about? Let’s just say it’s one of them things you would find hard to understand, unless you’ve lived there.

I am also having a bit of an orientation issues. Most of the places I see near where I now live do not appeal to me. I had to fight the urge to run back to The Curve just to buy drinking water and eggs. Ended up in Subang cos at least there’s some familiarity in those shops.

I suppose it’s a question of time, taking the time to get use to things. I have a whole different set of friends who now live nearby. And yes, I do so look forward to hanging out more with them. As for the old ones living on that side of the Valley – heck, we work round the corner from each other so it’s no biggie.

The house isn’t exactly 100% there yet. For starters, gotta give it a clean and find the rubbish chute to chuck out the unpacking junk.

But we’ll get there… soonish!

All's Sorted

I have been harping the last month or so about noisy neighbours, beeping-car-alarms and The Bold & Beautiful type soap dramas outside my room window. This would all thankfully come to an end in about.. oh.. 11 weeks or so.

Yups! The unimaginable has been achieved - finding the right place to move to on the right side of the Valley! This is after looking at almost 10 units in different locations and a whole lot of frustrations.

It's not a big place - enough to have space to move and not too big that I'd feel lost in it when the kids are not home. There's no balcony but hey - hopefully there would be no need or reason for me to wanna loll on one anyways! It's less than 15 minutes to work and 7 minutes to Mum's. And yes, there's no more need to trudge thru 2 toll gates and some 20 kilometres *grin*

So there you have it folks - Barbsie and kiddies are moving house after Christmas! Hip-hip-Hooray!

Volunteers to do more than carry the flower pot are most welcomed! Apply within *wink*

Restless Bones

wea·ry ~ adjective
  1. Physically or mentally exhausted by hard work, exertion, strain, etc.; fatigued; tired: weary eyes; a weary brain.
  2. Characterized by or causing fatigue: a weary journey.
  3. Impatient or dissatisfied with something (often fol. by of): weary of excuses.
  4. Characterized by or causing impatience or dissatisfaction; tedious; irksome: a weary wait.

It was another house hunting weekend. And I am tired. Physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Finally, after weeks of going thru ad after ad, I found a unit in the area I was looking at, only to be severely disappointed. And this was HOW disappointed I was - I couldn't wait to return to my sandiwara-type pigeon hole and curl up in bed! It was small, run down and well, let's just say it was so bad, nothing would convince me to live there.

I also found the apartment of my dreams - in the vicinity of the area I would like to live in, quiet, set on a hill, brand new (yes - brand new in a very old area!), huge (over 1300 square feet!) and I'd have my garden, while living in a box. Unfortunately, good, new and nice things don't come in 3-figure rental rates. And we don't believe in paying a ringgit over RM 999.00 in rent, do we now?

That's a total of 4 places I have been to seen in a span of weeks. For the life of me, in my years of living away from mum and dad's, I cannot recall another time when I so diligently sourced for a place to rest my bones and call home.

I am seriously on the verge of giving up, caving in and buying a Little Tikes playhouse, park it in the Bear's 2nd carpark lot and call it home.

It wouldn't be all that bad and I'd save some RM 500 from paying rent. Plus, I'd have a fully equipped kitchen, living room, balcony (with plants!!) and AV room with Plasma TV at my disposal. Only thing would be - where would I park my WiNK Mobile and what do I do when it rains and I need to pee??? And do you think the neighbouring cars would mind very much if I had the occassional visitor over?

What do you think? Should I get one in country colours or go with the Barbie Doll pink?

Author's Note:
Seriously now, we all know this Lil Tikes house thingy ain't gonna work.. so be a doll and help me keep a lookout for a nice pigeon hole that is:

  1. Not too far away from the city (not more than 10 km and RM 2 in toll??)
  2. On the same side of the Valley as Subang, and
  3. On or under RM 1K in rent.

I promise I'd be eternally grateful, you'll be on the invite list to the 1st meal cooked in new hole!

All Good Things

Ah it’s a brand new day. I had a bit of trouble figuring out what day it was this morning as I lazed in bed. Yes – it’s Thursday already – time flies!

As I wrote last night off my mobile (yes – the wonders of technology!!), yesterday ended on a high note, hanging out with the boys – Garlic and White. Needless to say, when the 3 of us get together we do 1) bitch about people we know and 2) exchange notes on sex.

On topic 1: Garlic thinks that I should have just held on a wee bit more and I would have gotten what I wanted out at the old place. Whites is stunned that I am idling my time away. I thought the both of them looked ready to burst open and die right there by the pool table from work overload.

On topic 2: Whites has just got way to much going on, and I had to remind him on the additional cost all these activities adds to his already stretched expense list. Garlic has to play his cards right and “get his head in the game.” Me – heading right down the road to perdition and a down right disappointment to these 2 who considers me the guru of the game.

It was absolute good fun to be able to let my hair down and just be myself. I didn’t even give a damn that I was not in clubbing clothes and my hair wasn’t washed, but tied up in a simple chignon. We could share secrets that we would never tell anybody else for fear of being judged. And that was what I meant when I say it was not exhausting to be with them.

Sure, I got knocked on the head a few times by Whites but they didn’t make me feel like I was committing some great cardinal sin. They gave their views on what I should do next but yet accepted that it might just be alright to leave things as they are.

I wrote yesterday about my circle of friends. A pretty damning and angry piece. Hell – that’s how I feel about it and it still stays with me. I’m not even gonna begin to make some form of apology for my harshness cos I wouldn’t be fair to myself if I pretended to feel even the slightest bit of remorse.

I feel like I have been pulled in way too many directions lately and in part, The Shooter contributed largely to it. People read about my life here and draw their conclusions from their interpretation. Now here’s the deal – if you cared enough, you’d be hearing it from me and not reading about it, like some lil sneak peaking thru the kitchen window. And then I get hit out-of-the-blue with someone’s off-the-cuff opinion.

I have no issue with this sneak-peak thing. I just have issue when you think by virtue of reading, you have the right to tell me what I should or should not do.

At the end of the day, it’s quite simple and I intend to keep it that way. Life – it’s a two way street – you give a little, you get a little. Everybody has everyone’s best interest at heart. But there comes a time, when you have to learn that what you have in mind, may not go hand-in-hand with what the other person wants, seeks.

I’m not about to go burning bridges over something so small. But with the sense that it would eventually escalate to a seething, red boil of contention, I’m pulling the plug on it.

My blog header says this: A chemical shooter is a drink consisting of a sweet mango liquer, a cognac lime mix, a bitter concoction that’s blue in colour, and a lychee liquer that’s sweet. It’s Barbsie's tale of life’s journey where your senses are exposed to a series of sweet, sour and bitter experiences. But if you persist, you will find the sweet again.

As Sen once said ~ you don’t really need to blog your thoughts when you have real people who actually listen to you. It’s been one hell of a ride these last 1 year and 3 months. I am pleased to say that my label count does indeed see me persisting and finding the sweet again.

It’s been a journey of awesome self-discovery. I had dreams of speaking and now I speak. Life has reached a point where I can continue on without the need of a blog, an avenue to expand my thoughts.

Thank you to those who made it a point each day to stop by, for whatever reasons you felt you had to. I hope you enjoyed the laughs, the songs and the drinks as much as I did!

First step

Some of you may have read / heard before of my grand plan to move to Spain. Today, I decided to take the first step and nail down where exactly it is I want to start over again. The verdict:

Donostia - San Sebastian.

It's a small and quaint lil town north of Spain and about 20km from the South border of France (best of both worlds?). It's in what is known as Basque Country, which has its own language and very deep in culture.

From what I've read... it's gonna be an expensive but possibly rewarding experience if this dream does indeed take flight. For this lil place, with a population of under 200,000 people, is blessed with beaches and mountains. Not only that, it's a highly popular place for the rich in the EC so there are plenty of hotels and such.

So yes, there is every possibility that I might just be able to find work there and be able to enjoy the "runaway" experience.

Next step? Learn as much as I can from my new trade, widen my contacts and needless to say - Learn Spanish.

Hasta entonces!

New Home

It's a new home and thus a new beginning. Hopefully, this new home will have more structure, less mess and less drama. Drop a note to say "hi" if we've met.. somewhere.. before...
